Our History
Casa Muro es un espacio concebido para el descanso y bienestar de sus huéspedes, quienes, en pleno corazón de Oaxaca, pueden disfrutar de los muchos atractivos de la ciudad mientras encuentran un ámbito íntimo, acogedor y de refinado gusto. Su nombre honra a don Félix Muro, fundador de una familia oaxaqueña de origen vasco, cuya memoria y legado viven en el mobiliario que adorna cada rincón de la casa.
Situada sobre el primer asentamiento humano de la región y el antiguo atrio del primer convento dominico, Casa Muro combina una arquitectura de principios del siglo XX con una reciente remodelación que respeta su historia y realza su espíritu contemporáneo. Cada muro conserva la esencia de Oaxaca, invitando al descanso y a la contemplación.
Casa Muro is a space designed for the rest and well-being of its guests, who, right in the heart of Oaxaca, can easily enjoy the city's many attractions while finding an intimate, welcoming, and refined retreat. Its name honors Don Félix Muro, founder of an Oaxacan family of Basque origin, whose memory and legacy live on in the furnishings that adorn every corner of the house.
Located on what was once the region’s first human settlement and the courtyard of Oaxaca’s first Dominican convent, Casa Muro blends early 20th century architecture with a recent restoration that preserves its historic essence while embracing a contemporary spirit. Each wall holds the soul of Oaxaca, inviting guests to relax and reflect.

Claudia's house was fantastic for our family of six. Each room has plenty of privacy and two of them open on to a beautiful courtyard. There would be ample room for eight. The location is perfect...just a block off of the Zocalo in the center of town...very close to a lot of activity but far enough away that the noise didn't keep us up at night. Claudia was great to work with and very responsive whenever we had questions. I highly recommend Casa Muro!

Casa Muro was so wonderful! First, the location couldn’t have been better. Blocks from the Zocalo and walking distance from everywhere we wanted to go. The house was beautiful and spacious for our group of 5. The best part is the gorgeous courtyard where we spent many mornings drinking coffee.
